The closing of the embassies in the middle east.. due to what the administration says is immenent threats... is this a case of wag the dog? is the administration deflecting from the bomb shell story from cnn? Since when does this country run and hide from potential threats? since when do emails scare this country so bad that we run and hide? Cowardice and incompetency are indeed a dangerous combination

Since when does this country run and hide from potential threats? since when do emails scare this country so bad that we run and hide? Cowardice and incompetency are indeed a dangerous combination I think the threat is real, the latest news is telling all Americans to leave Yemen. I think making it national news and exposing the intel is to deflect from all the scandals and an attempt to defend NSA spying. What I see is the emperor being exposed as naked. Fox news played a few clips of obama bragging that osama is dead and al qaeda on the run lauding himself as a hero for saving America from terrorists. Add that to the promise that obama could create peace in the ME and make them love us because he lived there and knows the muzzies and the collapse of Egypt because of obamas intervention and implementation of the muslim brotherhood as a political power and you have an absolute failure in fighting terrorism and foreign policy. Add to that the obamacare fight and our economy and what does obama have to stand on? Nothing but a promise to end fannie and Freddie by cutting their holdings by 15% so that the middle class won't get stuck covering the bad mortgages the feds forced banks to make!!! That's his economic plan to save America and create jobs!!!! No wonder even gallup can't fake good approval numbers!!

more on this: prairiepundit.blogspot.com/?v=0#!/2013/08/intelligence-report-on-al-qaeda-threat.html Intelligence report on al Qaeda threat to embassies was months old Bill Gertz: Intelligence regarding al Qaeda plans to attack U.S. embassies, officials, and interests last Sunday was known for months by U.S. intelligence agencies but was used only recently to trigger the closure of embassies and issuance of public warnings of impending attacks. Al Qaeda “chatter” about coming terrorist operations, mainly against 22 U.S. embassies and consulates, and threats to attack or bomb officials in the Middle East and elsewhere was widely reported in classified intelligence reports over several months. The report said an attack was planned for Sunday, although no attack was carried out. The intelligence was based on electronic surveillance of al Qaeda communications indicating some type of spectacular bombing or other attacks was being planned and would in fact be carried out very soon. The timing of the administration’s announced closure of numerous U.S. embassies in the Middle East has raised concerns among some U.S. officials that the Obama administration is politicizing intelligence to distract attention from the Benghazi and other scandals. “Why is this coming out now?” asked one official with access to terrorist threat data. “Is the administration trying to suck up news coverage with the embassy threats to distract attention from what the CIA was doing in Benghazi?” ... The threat followed three reported U.S. drone strikes in Yemen that killed several al Qaeda terrorists who were traveling in vehicles. Missile attacks from U.S. armed drones were carried out July 27, July 30, and Aug. 1 in al Qaeda strongholds in Yemen. A U.S. official said the terrorist threat does not appear to be part of any retaliation for the drone attacks because terrorist planning for a major bombing or other attacks usually takes weeks or months. Former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Pete Hoekstra said he is concerned that the administration may be politicizing intelligence because “they have politicized everything.” ... This is consistent with some of the questions I have raised about this report. It just did not make sense that the terrorist would all of a sudden decide to blow up an embassy. That type of operation takes not only planning, but practice. It does in fact, look politicized.

Trying to play the media and create the hype has backfired since it points to obamas failures in foreign policy, diminishing the terrorist threat and protecting Americans. No doubt the next report will be that obama single handedly prevented thousands of deaths by airing the alert and defending America!!!!

QOTD: "Impressive!
President Obama’s policy reset with Russia is working out as well as his economic stimulus, Guantanamo closing, spending cutbacks, green energy investments, debt discipline, Benghazi investigation, Egyptian fallout, midterm campaigning, Syrian dictator-ousting, Bush-blaming, Libya-calming, Iran-isolating, job approval, budget-passing, Kim Jong-un-taming, ObamaCare implementation and Muslim-outreaching." --Andrew Malcolm

I didn't vote for obama because I feared he would do to the US what coleman young did to Detroit and it appears I was correct. I had hoped I' was wrong and that he would keep two promises, to redress nafta and to ease racial tensions to create a united America, those two hopes were dashed rather quickly when he actually made both issues worse. Hopefully America has learned from this fraud and figured out why the Constitution was written the way it was.

Intelligence Reports Warned of Possible Embassy Attacks for Months: “Why is this coming out now?”
Posted by Jammie on Aug 06, 2013 at 8:13 am
Can we question the timing yet? Surely this has nothing to do with the devastating reports about Benghazi late last week, right?
Intelligence regarding al Qaeda plans to attack U.S. embassies, officials, and interests last Sunday was known for months by U.S. intelligence agencies but was used only recently to trigger the closure of embassies and issuance of public warnings of impending attacks. “Is the administration trying to suck up news coverage with the embassy threats to distract attention from what the CIA was doing in Benghazi?” It sure does seem suspicious and it had the desired effect at Monday’s press briefing where not a single question was asked about Obama’s Benghazi scandal and the new revelations.
Former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Pete Hoekstra said he is concerned that the administration may be politicizing intelligence because “they have politicized everything.” “If there is any hint at all that this [latest terror threat] was politicized, it would be absolutely outrageous,” Hoekstra said in an interview. “In an era of ‘phony’ scandals, let’s hope no one is playing politics with national security and threat alerts,” Hoekstra told the Washington Free Beacon, referring to President Obama’s recent dismissal of Benghazi and other administration scandals as “phony.”

and color me surprised
BOMBSHELL REPORT: Valerie Jarrett Gave the Orders on 9/11/2012 and Blocked Rescue in Benghazi And such a report is entirely believable, given that Jarrett nixed the raid on Bin Laden three separate times.
Valerie Jarrett, Commander in Chief
Confidential sources close to Conservative Report have confirmed that Valerie Jarrett was the key decision-maker for the administration, the night of the Benghazi terrorist attack on 9/11/2012.
The chronology of the evening of 9/11 are as follows:
At approximately 5 PM Washington time, reports came in through secure-channels that Special Mission Benghazi was under attack. Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey summoned the President, and briefed him on the crisis, face to face.
Subsequent to that brief meeting, President Obama proceeded to the White House to dine in his living quarters.
After supper, Barack Obama had a telephone conference scheduled with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu... As that meeting drew to a close, Ms. Jarrett, who is also the Assistant to the President for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, went from the living quarters to the White House Situation Room, where the attack in Benghazi was being monitored by Dempsey, Panetta and other top-ranking officials.
Whether she was instructed by the President to go there, or if she went of her own volition, is only known by the President and herself.
A critical question that needed to be answered, and the sole military-order that could have launched offensive-actions, neutralizing the Ansar al Sharia terrorists attacks on the Mission (the purpose of which are detailed here) and its subsequent attacks on the adjacent CIA Annex, was the issuance of “Cross Border Authority”, an order that can only be issued by the Commander in Chief himself.
As was reported earlier by Conservative Report, Cross Border Authority was denied... Two revelations are deeply troubling:
First, it is reported that an Army Special Forces team was present with an AC-130U Spooky (also known as a Spectre Gunship) on the tarmac at the airport in Tripoli, Libya. The Spooky is a technologically sophisticated, tactical aircraft, operated by the U.S. Air Force Special... The AC-130U Spooky is equipped with weapons that sync with laser-designators, like those that Woods, Doherty and Ubben had on that lonely rooftop above the CIA Annex. The laser-designator was used to “paint” the mortar targets during the attack, subsequently claiming the lives of Woods and Doherty, and leaving Ubben without a leg. Had the AC-130U been on station, over the CIA Annex in Benghazi, moments before the mortar rounds were fired, instead of "awaiting further instructions," the entire outcome of the Benghazi fiasco would have been different.
Add to that, a team of Green Berets on the ground to secure and/or evacuate the Annex, and the outcome would have been two SEALS still alive, and a mess of dead terrorists.
The second, and most troubling aspect of the refusal to issue Cross Border Authority is who issued the refusal. Rather than the President, the Commander In Chief, making critical decisions, granting or denying the authority to initiate offensive-actions in support of our valiant fighting men, the decision not to take action was made by a person, to whom the people did not elect, nor did the Congress have confirmation power over.
The military-order, not to initiate action, saving our men in Benghazi, was issued by the President's Advisor, Valerie Jarrett.
And this is a “phony” scandal?
This report would certainly explain the serial lies, cover-ups, and obfuscation by this administration.
Could someone find out what bar John Boehner is in and buy him shots of Glenfiddich until he agrees to name a Select Investigative Committee on Benghazi

What does this say about panetta and Dempsey and the rest who covered up the truth about not only Benghazi but about who was really leading the country while obama sat on his lazy butt enjoying his after dinner mint? The entire lot needs to be charged with treason and hauled out of the white house in hand cuffs compliments of our military! Their cowardice and dishonesty is a disgrace to the men and women who serve this country and their desire for money and power that allowed them to watch Americans be killed for their personal benefit as well as obamas is certainly proof that power corrupts and that there has never been a more corrupt power in office than obama!!!

Fox has a story saying much the same thing as cathy reported, that the media hype is obama playing politics rather than being honest and cautious. So much for putting the nation first and foremost and letting a crisis go to waste when obama can use it to deflect and make himself look like a hero!!!The ongoing response to a suspected Al Qaeda terror threat -- apparently emanating from the highest levels of the organization -- is also raising concerns that the U.S. might be overreacting to the intelligence, and giving away sensitive information in the process. Officials have said they're closing embassies and consulates out of an "abundance of caution." Those precautions reached a new level on Tuesday, as the military evacuated approximately 70 U.S. personnel out of Yemen and flew them to a base in Germany. The State Department meanwhile urged all U.S. citizens in Yemen to get out if they can. According to a senior U.S. defense official, there are about 1,400 U.S. Marines aboard Naval vessels off the coast of Yemen. They have been there for some time, but are in a position to help if needed, the official said. The broad reaction speaks to the serious nature of the threat, which lawmakers have described as one of the most specific they've heard in years. But some are also questioning the extent of the precautionary measures.

John Price, former U.S. ambassador to Mauritius, Seychelles and Comoros, told FoxNews.com LIVE that he's unclear why this particular threat is "so much in the public eye."
"We've had threats, but we never went to the media with them and we didn't deal with it the way it's being dealt with today," he said. Price said it makes sense to take additional precautions in Yemen, "because that's been the center for Al Qaeda," but questioned all the embassy closures and additional security in Africa.
"The embassies that they've closed at random in Africa don't make any sense to me," he said. The decision to order personnel out of Yemen prompted criticism from the Yemen government. According to The Associated Press, the Yemen embassy in Washington issued a statement saying the order "serves the interests of the extremists and undermines the exceptional cooperation" between Yemen and other nations. Former CIA officer Mike Baker said Tuesday that the tragedy of the Benghazi attack might be playing a role. "Clearly the White House, despite calling Benghazi a phony scandal ... they're politically sensitive. They understand not just on the tragedy level but on the political level what it would mean if they have another attack and loss of U.S. life overseas or here in the States," he said. "And so I'm afraid that there's a political calculation that has increased now in how we identify and then determine whether to release threat levels or threat alerts. And that's a problem because then that potentially drives how much information we release." He voiced particular concern that it was leaked to the media on Monday that part of what triggered the security warnings was an intercepted communication between Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri and the head of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. "That's basically just telling Al Qaeda how we're onto them," Baker said. There is a lot of handwringing in the intelligence community over the leak of that information, Fox News has learned. It's unclear whether the leak was authorized at higher levels or not. Daily politics news delivered to your inbox: sign up for our newsletter Anthony Shaffer, a former military intelligence officer who now works with the Center for Advanced Defense Studies, said this might just be "Al Qaeda pushing our buttons" to see how the U.S. responds. "It's a test in my judgment," he told FoxNews.com. "I think this is a trial balloon by Al Qaeda to see how we would react." A State Department spokeswoman pushed back on that theory during Monday's press briefing. Thomas Sanderson, senior fellow with the Center for Strategic and International Studies Transnational Threats Project, also told FoxNews.com that while an Al Qaeda trial balloon is "not beyond the realm of possibility with them," such a ruse would come with an added risk of giving away the locations of those involved. "It's very difficult to determine what the real nature of this is," he said. Amid the departures of U.S. personnel, militants reportedly shot down a Yemen army helicopter on Tuesday, killing eight people. Analysts say the broad scale of the U.S. reaction -- including the closure of 22 foreign posts on Sunday and 19 posts through the end of this week, and a global travel alert -- speaks to a lack of specificity in where this attack might take place. The evacuation operation in Yemen suggests a strong focus on the Arabian Peninsula. The Obama administration repeatedly has said the threat appears to originate in -- and possibly be directed toward -- the Arabian Peninsula, which is where Yemen is located and which houses Al Qaeda's most notorious affiliate. The State Department said in a travel warning that it had ordered the staff departures "due to the continued potential for terrorist attacks" and added that all Americans in Yemen should leave immediately because of an "extremely high" security threat level. It certainly doesn't help President Obama to tell people that Al Qaeda is resurging again, so why in the hell would they make it up, Cathy? This just goes to show that it's true - no matter what President Obama does, it will be spun as the wrong thing by the right. It's his fault we didn't shut down the mission in Benghazi because there was potential danger there, and now it's his fault we overreacted to a threat now. President Obama could cure cancer, come up with an inexhaustible and dirt cheap new source of energy and bring the entire world to global peace and brotherhood, and somehow, FOX news and their minions would spin it bad.

LOL dd, still the same old twist and spin. No one blamed obama for not shutting down Benghazi, they blamed hillary for not providing the minimum security required by their own dept of state. They blamed obama for refusing to send aid to rescue those in Benghazi and for lying about the whole fiasco he created. And today they are suggesting that his world wide notification of the closing of the embassies didn't accomplish much since the alleged attackers heard about the closings along with the rest of the world, hence the one day closing turned into a week at least because the threat is still there but they no longer have a target date. And of course obama is being called on his claims of greatness for killing osama and destroying al qaeda and making the world safe from terrorism when the truth is killing osama didn't do much except promote more terrorism!

Targets. Embassies are targets. With them closed, we're out of it, and the middle east sorts out its own problems. Isn't that what most of you want? God knows we've not sorted their problems at all, with our eyes only on the prize, oil.
Go solar. The American business interests will follow.

Has any one changed their views expressed here?
I haven’t. We just left Afghanistan to it’s own resources and the facilities, equipment we left behind that cost us a few dimes. Anyway, we did what we could. After 20 years, it’s plain Afghanistan prefers Taliban. The biggest gripe from members of our military is that they wouldn’t fight…….bit of a clue in that.
People should be allowed to devise their own happiness. There were many who thought we were their answer, but many more who did not. People rule.
